We have selected 50 artists to feature in this book. Narrowing it down to 50 was not easy, considering there are hundreds, if not thousands, of amazing artists who have helped shape the functional glass community over the last 40 years. The main criteria was that the artists be relevant in the medium today and be actively creating art that continues to influence the industry. The one exception we made was for an artist who lost his life a few years ago and who played a major role in helping to define the scene in the Pacific Northwest, the place to be in the 90s for anyone wanting to learn the business. These artists, however, are only a tip of the iceberg when it comes to knowing the essential and necessary figures in the glass pipe industry. We intend to publish additional books about the functional glass world so that we may include all of the artists who deserve to have their work and stories featured.
THIS IS A PIPE features:

Without further ado, I am ecstatic to be able to present volume one of This Is a Pipe— The Evolution of the Glass Pipe and Its Artists. I appreciate everyone’s patience and support while we brought this project to reality. Our team is very proud of the final product and we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we have while putting it together.
